Dr. Valerie Golden, President of the American Psychoanalytic Association Candidates' Council, is a highly sought-after therapist with more than 25 years' experience, specializing in the treatment of attorneys, professionals, and executives.
She also treats adolescents and adults for anxiety, depression, interpersonal conflicts, and workplace concerns, and consults with parents, couples, and families around relationship repair, separation, divorce, and parenting.
A columnist for Psychology Today, national speaker, and author, Dr. Golden holds degrees from Stanford University and Columbia University, and is a graduate of The Blake School.
She has served on the Adjunct Faculty of Columbia University in the Clinical Psychology and Psychiatry Departments. She trained in psychoanalysis at the Minnesota Psychoanalytic Society & Institute.
She is active in professional organizations, and is currently the President of the American Psychoanalytic Association Candidates’ Council.
Dr. Golden was an attorney early in her career, prior to establishing her private practice as a clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst. During her tenure as an attorney, she worked at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, in private practice, and in law school admissions. She also served briefly as Deputy Commissioner of Commerce for the State of Minnesota.
